Lugares de dentro (inner Places)
A series of illustrations that I created while travelling across Brazil. As I travelled from the north-east coast to the south-east, I sketched the domestic spaces — the homes and studios — of the artists and artisans I interviewed.
Os sonhos dos Yanomami (Dreams of the Yanomami)
A series of illustrations based on Kopenawa's childhood dreams. Kopenawa is the leader and shaman of the Yanomami people. These dreams are discussed in the book The Desire of Others: An Ethnography of Yanomami Dreams by Hanna Limulja. For the Yanomami, dreaming is a way to travel far away, discover new places, and meet new people — a way to escape everyday life.
Knowing how to dream enables you to see things that are not there, understand things better and experience freedom. It is like entering a portal into another world: the unknown and the distant.
